Boys Junior Varsity Baseball

BACKGROUND:  Played high school baseball at Southgate Anderson under Hall of Fame Head Coach Scott Ferrante.  Graduated from Anderson, class of 1998.  Played 3 summers with the late Hall of Famer, Tom Noland for Lincoln Park Legion. Played 2 years at Henry Ford Community College. Played with Lake Erie Monarchs in summer of 2000, which placed in the Top 10 at the National Baseball Congress World Series.  Transferred to Wayne State University and played under head coaches Jay Alexander and Roger George as a catcher and outfielder.  Served as team captain in 2002.  Led the team in 6 different categories: slugging, runs scored, triples, home runs, total bases, games started.  Named 2002 All-GLIAC honorable mention as a right fielder. 

Graduated from Wayne State with a bachelor degree in business marketing.  Now working as a mortgage banker at Mortgage One.  Married to Robyn Davis (Shurtz), a teacher in the Southgate district. 

PHILOSOPHY/COACHING HISTORY:  Assisted with youth sports such as Southgate Vikings football and Titan wrestling. Came aboard the Titan baseball staff as a Varsity assistant in the 2009 season & took over as JV head coach during the 2010 season. 

To teach and inspire young men to successfully play the sport of baseball and instill passion, dedication, and determination to carry with them throughout life.
