Boys Varsity Baseball

BACKGROUND:  Product of all of Southgate's baseball programs: summer, legion, and high school. Played under Hall of Fame coach Scott Ferrante during the 1988 and 1989 seasons. Walked on to Wayne State University baseball team during the fall of 1990. Taught Biology and Chemistry at Hamtramck High School from 1998-2000. Hired as a Biology teacher at Anderson in 2000. Married to wife Carol and has 2 greyhounds, Donna and Candy. 

COACHING HISTORY:  Coached Southgate travel baseball for eight summers where teams won 7 consecutive district titles and won back to back state titles and U.S. regional titles in 1996 and 1997. Served as varsity softball assistant at Hamtramck High School for the 2000 season when the team won the first district title in school history. Coached JV baseball at Anderson for 3 seasons; 2002-2003 & 2009. Moved to varsity assistant in 2003 and was part of 3 consecutive district titles from 2004-2006. 

COACHING PHILOSOPHY:  Carry out the teachings of the three biggest baseball influences in my life: former coaches Scott Ferrante, Dave Weidenbach, and my dad. I enjoy sharing my experiences and love of the game of baseball with the players and the coaches at Southgate Anderson. I am fulfilling a life long dream of coaching baseball at the varsity level of my alma mater.
